Gym, yoga and fitness studio website accessibility
Accessibility fixes for gym, yoga, pilates and fitness studio websites: class schedules, booking widgets, pricing tables, videos and photo galleries.
Fitness studio sites revolve around the class schedule and the booking button. Both are often third-party widgets, and both are easy to break for keyboard and screen-reader users.
1. Class schedules
A schedule shown as an image or a grid of unlabeled boxes is hard to follow without sight. Use a table with day and time headers, or a simple list grouped by day with headings.
2. Booking and membership widgets
Test the full flow with only the keyboard: pick a class, choose a time, sign in, confirm. If the widget fails, put a phone, text or email booking option right next to it and mention it in your accessibility statement.
3. Pricing and membership tables
Make prices real text, not part of a banner image. Mark the recommended plan in words, not only with colour.
4. Workout videos
Add accurate captions and a short written summary of the moves. Don't auto-play video with sound.
5. Photos and Instagram embeds
Describe the class or space ("Morning yoga class in our sunlit studio"). Key information such as hours, address and offers should also appear as text on the page.
6. Accessibility of the space itself
Many visitors want to know about step-free entry, accessible changing rooms or adaptive classes before they come. If you offer them, say so on your site.
